Cedar Grove, NJ – On April 13, 2017 at 12:31 a.m., police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at Lombardi’s Bar and Restaurant located at 599 Pompton Avenue. The owner had received an alert on his phone from a recently installed security system. Through his cell phone, the owner observed an unknown actor in his business opening a cash register behind the bar. He immediately contacted the police via 911 to report the incident. The actor had fled the scene prior to police arrival. Upon viewing the surveillance video officers were able to identify the actor as 26 year old Steven O’Connor of Cedar Grove. They responded to his residence and subsequently placed him under arrested after he admitted to committing the burglary. He was charged with burglary, theft and possession of burglary tools. He was processed and taken to the Essex County Jail.
