                       On February 27, 2017 at 11:34 a.m., Lt. John Kennedy stopped a vehicle after observing the operator using a hand held cellular telephone while driving. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of a 26 year old female passenger for possession of marijuana. She was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On February 27, 2017 at 3:35 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas stopped a vehicle for an observed equipment violation. It was determined that the operators driving privileges were suspended. The 54 year old male operator was placed under arrest. He was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On February 27, 2017 at 10:40 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a motor vehicle for an equipment violation. It was determined that the operators driving privileges were suspended. The 22 year old male operator was arrested and processed at police headquarters. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On February 28, 2017 at 11:58 a.m., Ptl. Anthony Cardona investigated a phone scam reported by an elderly resident.  The victim was scammed out of more than $6,500 by a company conducting a security check on his computer on behalf of Microsoft Corporation. The victim purchased gift cards for payment and relayed the card numbers to the scammers. Residents should never provide bank account information to anyone over the telephone and should never provide payment to anyone in the form of gift cards or money orders.
 
            On February 28, 2017 at 2:28 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Russomanno investigated a suspicious person reported by a Pompton Avenue business. A subsequent investigation revealed that the person was wanted by the Essex County Sheriff’s Department. The 42 year old female was arrested and transported directly to the Essex County Jail.
 
            On March 3, 2017 at 7:41p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a motor vehicle for an equipment violation. It was determined that the operators driving privileges were currently suspended. The 22 year old male driver was arrested and processed at police headquarters. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
On March 4, 2017 at 4:36 a.m., Ptl. Nicole Witel responded to the scene of a single car motor vehicle cash in the area of 173 Ridge Road. Upon arrival the vehicle was on the sidewalk and the 21 year old male operator was still seated in the car. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the operator for driving a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating liquor or drugs. He was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

            On March 6, 2017 detectives identified a suspect who committed a bank fraud against a township resident. The suspect used a fraudulent identification and counterfeit check to withdraw $2,600.00 from the victim’s bank account. Charges are pending.
 
            On March 6, 2017 a resident reported fraudulent activity involving her PayPal account. The victim discovered more than $900.00 in fraudulent purchases charged to her PayPal account. The incident is under investigation by the detective bureau.
           
            On March 7, 2017 at 2:56 p.m., patrol officers responded to Staples on a report of a shoplifting. Officers stopped the suspect as she attempted to flee the scene in a taxi cab. She was found to be in possession of more than $400.00 in store merchandise. She was arrested, processed and transported to the Essex County Jail.
 
            On March 7, 2017 at 8:41 p.m., patrol officers responded to the CVS at 1041 Pompton Avenue for a reported shoplifting. Arriving officers quickly located a male and female actor attempting to flee the scene in a taxi cab. Both actors were placed under arrest. Both were processed and issued summonses to appear in municipal court. The female was turned over to Clifton Police on an outstanding warrant.
 
            On March 9, 2017 at 2:04 p.m., Ptl. Kristian Schneider responded to the Cedar Grove High School on a report of a theft. A student reported that $30.00 was removed from his backpack which was left in the boy’s locker room during a gym class.  The incident remains under investigation.
 
            On March 9, 2017 at 11:21 p.m., the Cedar Grove Police and Fire Departments responded to the Arbor Glen Nursing Center for a nurse entrapped in the metal linkage that raises and lowers the patient’s bed. The bed had collapsed on the nurse while she was trying lower it for a patient. Fire Department personnel had to cut the metal frame to extricate the nurse. The nurse was then transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital for treatment.
 
            On March 10, 2017 at 4:21 p.m., Sgt. Jason Wolfstirn stopped a vehicle for careless driving on Pompton Avenue. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 20 year old male operator for possession of CDS (marijuana). He was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 10, 2017 at 7:03 p.m., Sgt. Jose Rodriguez stopped a motor vehicle for an observed equipment violation. It was determined that the 26 year old male operator had a suspended driver’s license. He was placed under arrest and processed at police headquarters. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 11, 2017 at 3:25 p.m., Ptl. Dominick Buscio stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. It was subsequently determined that the 29 year old male operator’s driving privileges were suspended. He was placed under arrest and processed at police headquarters. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 11, 2017 at 7:11 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Lynch investigated a suspicious person walking along Pompton Avenue. The 23 year old male was subsequently arrested after it was determined that he had an outstanding warrant from the Cedar Grove Municipal Court. He was released after posting the required bail.
 
            On March 11, 2017 at 11:02 p.m., Ptl. Dominick Buscio stopped a vehicle for an observed equipment violation. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of a vehicle passenger for possession of CDS (marijuana). He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court. .

            On March 13, 2017 at 6:22 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a motor vehicle after conducting a random license plate inquiry on his mobile data terminal. The check revealed that the operator’s driving privileges were suspended. The operator, a 33 year old male out of Belleville, was arrested and processed at police headquarters. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 15, 2017 at 2:44 p.m., Ptl. Robert Hectus investigated a report of an erratic driver that had struck multiple snow banks along Cedar Street. He located the vehicle parked and occupied in the Foodtown parking lot. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 56 year old male operator out of Cedar Grove. He was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating liquor or drugs. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 17, 2017 at 8:22 a.m., Ptl. John Smigelsky stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. A further investigation resulted in the arrest of the 42 year old female operator out of Palisades Park. She was charged with driving a vehicle with a suspended license. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 17, 2017 at 9:42 a.m., Ptl. Jason Rivers stopped a vehicle after observing the operator using a hand held cellular phone while driving. It was then determined that his driving privileges were suspended. The 22 year old male operator out of New Brunswick was arrested and processed at police headquarters. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 18, 2017 at 12:12 a.m., Ptl Raymond Cassella responded to a single car motor vehicle crash in the area of Pompton Avenue and Fairview Avenue. While investigating the crash he determined that the 28 year old male driver out of Wayne was operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating liquor or drugs. The driver was arrested and processed at police headquarters. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 18, 2017 at 1:45 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Russomanno stopped a motor vehicle after conducting a random license plate inquiry on his mobile data terminal. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

            On March 20, 2017 at 8:23 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a motor vehicle for failing to stop at a red traffic signal. It was determined that the 28 year old male operator out of Little Falls was driving a vehicle with a suspended license. He was arrested and processed at police headquarters. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
            On March 22, 2017 at 1:41 p.m., Ptl. Jason Rivers responded to 85 Pompton Avenue to check on a female driver slumped over in a parked vehicle. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 40 year old driver out of Cedar Grove. She was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating liquor or drugs. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.  
 
            On March 22, 2017 at 6:22 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas responded to a report of an attempted fraud against a township resident. The resident was selling a used hospital bed on Craigslist. A potential buyer sent a fraudulent money gram to the seller for payment. The incident is being investigated by the detective bureau.             
           
            On March 22, 2017 at 7:49 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a motor vehicle for an equipment violation. It was determined that the 43 year old male operator out of Cedar Grove was driving a vehicle with a suspended license. He was arrested and processed at police headquarters. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 23, 2017 at 1:23 a.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle for an observed violation. A subsequent investigation led to the discovery of marijuana inside the vehicle. The operator, an 18 year old male from Nutley, was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 24, 2017 at 11:14 a.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck stopped a vehicle for an observed violation. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 35 year old male operator out of Paterson for possession of CDS (marijuana). He was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 24, 2017 at 8:29 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Lynch stopped a motor vehicle for an equipment violation. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 23 year old operator out of West Caldwell on drug paraphernalia charges. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On March 25, 2017 at 2:40 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck stopped a motor vehicle after he observed that the operator was not wearing a seatbelt. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 29 year old male operator out of Clifton for possession of CDS (marijuana). He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
             On March 26, 2017 at 11:25 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a motor vehicle that was travelling in excess of the posted speed limit. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the vehicle operator for driving with a suspended license. He was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
