On May 4, 2018 at 2:58 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle for not having an inspection decal and an obstructed windshield. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 28 year old male operator from Paterson for driving with a suspended license and having a suspended registration. His vehicle was impounded and he was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.  
 
On May 4, 2018 at 5:29 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck arrested a 39 year old female from Cedar Grove for driving while intoxicated. The female had driven to the police department to discuss an unrelated incident when the officer determined she was under the influence of alcohol. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
On May 5, 2018 at 12:25 a.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle for speeding on Pompton Avenue. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 21 year old male operator from Orange for driving with a suspended license. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.  
 
On May 5, 2018 at 1:28 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck stopped a vehicle after a random plate check revealed that the registration was expired. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 56 year old male operator from Boonton for driving with a suspended license. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court. 
 
On May 5, 2018 at 4:50 p.m., Ptl. Dominick Buscio stopped a vehicle for having tinted front windows. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 22 year old male driver from Orange for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.  
 
On May 5, 2018 at 1:28 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle after a random plate check revealed that the registration was expired. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 56 year old male operator from Montclair for driving with a suspended license. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court. 
 
On May 6, 2018 at 1:45 a.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume located a suspicious vehicle in Community Park. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of one of the occupants, a 19 year old male from Bloomfield, for possession of marijuana. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
On May 5, 2018 at 1:28 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle after a random plate check revealed that the registration was expired and suspended. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 35 year old male operator from Bronx, NY for driving with a suspended license. His vehicle was impounded and he was released with a summons to appear in municipal court. 

On May 6, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., Ptl. Dominick Buscio responded to a Chestnut Court address on a report of a burglary. The resident returned home after being away and discovered that someone had forced open a garage window. Some of the rooms were found ransacked. The detective bureau is investigating the incident.

            On May 14, 2018 at 5:57 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle without a front license plate and tinted windows. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 36 year old male driver from Paterson for driving with a suspended license. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On May 15, 2018 at 8:31 a.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle with an obstructed windshield. It was determined that the 26 year old female driver had a suspended license. She was arrested, processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On May 15, 2018 at 1:56 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle wanted for questioning for an incident that had occurred in North Caldwell. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 35 year old female operator for driving with a suspended license. A 32 year old male passenger was also arrested for outstanding warrants. He was later released on his own recognizance. The driver was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On May 16, 2018 at 6:04 p.m., officers responded to a Stevens Avenue address to investigate a burglary. The homeowner discovered that someone had forced open a window to gain access to the residence and then ransacked the bedrooms looking for valuables. The incident is under investigation by the detective bureau.
 
            On May 17, 2018 at 10:38 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a vehicle after it failed to move over and slow down as it passed him during another motor vehicle stop. The driver, a 33 year old male from North Bergen, was arrested after it was determined that his license was suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On May 17, 2018 at 11:59 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas stopped a vehicle after it came to an abrupt stop and delayed traffic on Pompton Avenue. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 19 year old female driver and 19 year old female passenger, both from Bronx, NY. Both were charged with possession of marijuana. The driver was also charged with possession of a fraudulent driver’s license. Both were released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On May 18, 2018 at 9:10 a.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck stopped a vehicle after a random license plate check revealed that the driver had a suspended license. The 35 year old male driver from East Orange was arrested, processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On May 19, 2018 at 7:48 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle after it failed maintain a lane on Pompton Avenue. The driver, a 23 year old female from Montclair, was arrested after it was determined that her license was suspended. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On May 20, 2018 at 1:57 a.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle for having an obstructed windshield and an unclear license plate. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 40 year old male operator from Irvington for possession of marijuana. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On May 21, 2018 at 1:09 a.m., Ptl. Christopher Lynch stopped a vehicle after detecting the odor of burnt marijuana come from its passenger compartment as it travelled in front of him. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of a 20 year old male driver from Lincoln Park and a 19 year old male passenger from Nutley for possession of marijuana. They were processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

            On May 21, 2018 at 8:53 p.m., Ptl. Nicole Witel investigated a motor vehicle crash which led to the arrest of a 29 year old female driver from Cedar Grove for driving while intoxicated. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On May 22, 2018 at 10:06 a.m., Ptl. Joseph Russomanno investigated a report of a suspicious male outside of TD Bank North at 85 Pompton Avenue. The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 66 year old male from Orlando, FL for outstanding criminal warrants from Point Pleasant Beach, Bradley Beach Borough, and Belmar Borough. He was released after posting the required bail.
 
            On May 23, 2018 at 7:35 p.m., police and fire personnel responded to a Brunswick Road residence on a report of a possible over fire. The fire department determined that an electrical malfunction caused a sparking condition in the electric oven. Power to the oven was shut off pending a repair.
 
            On May 23, 2018 at 11:42 p.m., police officers responded to a Patten Terrace address on a report of a suspicious male. The resident, who was in bed at the time, was alerted to motion detected by her Ring doorbell camera. She viewed the video and observed a dark skinned male in dark clothing with a hoodie approach her front door. He then quickly turned and walked away. Officers from surrounding towns assisted in an area search. The subject was never located. The incident is under investigation.  
 
            On May 24, 2018 at 12:17 a.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle after observing an object hanging from its rear view mirror that obstructed the driver’s view. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 56 year old male driver from Parsippany for possession of a controlled dangerous substance without a valid prescription. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.   
 
            On May 24, 2018 at 2:30 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck investigated a report of a stolen leaf blower from a landscaper on Lopez Road. The blower was stolen while the landscaper was working. The incident is under investigation.
 
            On May 26, 2018 at 8:01 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas stopped a vehicle for failing to keep right and objects hanging in the windows obstructing the drivers view. The operator, a 34 year old male from Newark, was arrested for driving with a suspended license. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
