                        On October 2, 2017 Ptl. Raymond Cassella took a report of a fraud perpetrated against an elderly resident. He was contacted by an individual claiming to be his grandson who stated he was in police custody subsequent to an accident and could not be released until he paid for damages. He was directed to purchase BestBuy gift cards and provide the PIN numbers to the caller. He complied and ultimately was defrauded of $7000 before realizing it was a scam. The incident is under investigation.
 
            On October 2, 2017 at 6:00 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle displaying an expired inspection decal. The operator, a 22 year old male from Jersey City, was arrested for driving with a suspended license. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On October 2, 2017 at 7:56 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The operator, a 42 year old female from Orange, was placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On October 2, 2017 at 11:53 p.m., Ptl. Justin Westra stopped a vehicle displaying dark tinted windows. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 28 year old male operator for driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Additionally, a 26 year old female passenger from East Orange was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were processed and released with summonses to appear in municipal court.  
 
            On October 3, 2017 at 9:41 a.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle that displayed a decal indicating that it failed inspection. The operator, a 57 year old male out Scotch Plains, was arrested after it was determined that his license was suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On October 3, 2017 at 2:50 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle with an obstructed windshield. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 25 year old female operator from Pennsylvania. She was charged with driving with a suspended license, possession of a prescription legend drug without a prescription and possession of marijuana. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On October 3, 2017 at 9:22 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Lynch stopped a vehicle for failure to keep right. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 20 year old male operator from Fort Lee for possession of marijuana and possession of CDS (Psilocybin Mushrooms). He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On October 4, 2017 at 7:16 p.m., Ptl. Anthony Cardona investigated a motor vehicle crash. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 68 year old female operator from Montclair. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On October 5, 2017 at 8:37 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver, a 21 year old male out of Irvington, was arrested for driving with a suspended license. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

            On October 9, 2017 at 7:47 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a vehicle after a random check on his MDT revealed that the operator had a suspended driver’s license. The 38 year old male operator from Nutley was arrested processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On October 11, 2017 at 12:11 a.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a vehicle with an obstructed windshield. The 25 year old male operator from West Orange was arrested after it was determined that his driver’s license was suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On October 11, 2017 Ptl. Robert Hectus took two reports of criminal mischief. At Community Park unknown actors slashed the padding covering a light post. At Panther Park unknown actors damaged and stole parts from a soccer goal net. Additionally, four small areas of the artificial field turf field had been burned. The total cost of the damage to both locations is estimated to be $2885. These incidents remain under investigation and anyone with information should contact the police department.
 
            On October 11, 2017 at 2:08 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle after a random check on his MDT reveal that the driver had a suspended license. The 48 year old male from Piscataway was arrested processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On October 12, 2017 at 12:58 a.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle for speeding on Pompton Avenue. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 24 year old female operator from Paterson for possession of marijuana. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On October 12, 2017 at 8:39 p.m., Ptl. Dominick Buscio stopped a vehicle with tinted windows. The 25 year old male driver from East Orange was arrested after it was determined that his driver’s license was suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On October 12, 2017 at 11:44 p.m., Ptl. Justin Westra stopped a vehicle with an obstructed license plate. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 40 year old male driver from Irvington for operating a vehicle with a suspended license. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
On October 14, 2017 at 3:05 a.m., Ptl. Anthony Cardona responded to a report of a burglary to a vehicle on Squirehill Road. The homeowner awoke to the dog barking. She looked outside to find her car door open and interior light on. The center console and glove box were found open. The incident remains under investigation. Homeowners are urged to lock all vehicles and not to leave key fobs in the car.
 
On October 14, 2017 at 11:02 a.m., Ptl. Jason Rivers responded to the area of 25 East Lindsley Road for a report of two individuals in a parked vehicle smoking marijuana. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of a 37 year old female and 52 year old male, both from Cedar Grove, for possession of marijuana. They were processed and released with summonses to appear in municipal court.

            On October 16, 2017 at 7:37 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The 50 year old male operator from Jersey City was arrested after it was determined that his license was suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

 

            On October 17, 2017 at 11:21 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Lynch stopped a suspicious vehicle on Sunset Terrace. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 18 year old male operator from Elizabeth. He was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

 

            On October 21, 2017 at 11:40 a.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The 21 year old male operator from Union City was arrested after it was determined that his license was suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

 

            On October 22, 2017 at 5:06 a.m., police investigated a burglary to two vehicles in a Sunrise Terrace driveway.

 

            On October 22, 2017 at 11:28 a.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck took a report of a motor vehicle theft from a Woodmere Road resident. The vehicle was stolen sometime after 2:00 a.m. The vehicle was later recover in Newark.
