November 27 – December 3, 2017

 
            On November 27, 2017 at 10:32 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The 56 year old female driver from Bloomfield was arrested after it was determined that her driving privileges were suspended. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On November 27, 2017 at 9:36 a.m., Ptl. Jason Rivers stopped a vehicle for delaying traffic. The 33 year old male driver from Belleville was arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On November 28, 2017 at 8:20 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle after observing the operator using a handheld cell phone while driving.  The 22 year old female driver from East Orange was arrested after it was determined that she had an outstanding traffic warrant. She was processed and released after posting the required bail.
 
            On December 1, 2017 at 6:26 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain a lane. The 47 year old male driver from Paterson was arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On December 1, 2017 at 9:23 p.m., Ptl. Justin Westra stopped a vehicle for an obstructed windshield. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the 22 year old male driver from Orange for possession of marijuana. A 23 year old female passenger from East Orange was also arrested for an outstanding traffic warrant. Both were processed and released.

            On December 5, 2017 at 1:28 a.m., Ptl. Anthony Cardona stopped a vehicle on Stevens Avenue after observing it swerving on the roadway. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 28 year old female driver from West Caldwell for driving while intoxicated. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On December 7, 2017 at 1:14 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle on Pompton Avenue displaying dark tinted windows. A subsequent investigation revealed a large quantity of marijuana. The 21 year old male driver and 20 year old female passenger, both from Newark, were placed under arrest. The driver was charged with distribution of marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger was charged with possession of marijuana. Both were released with summonses to appear in court.
 
            On December 7, 2017 at 10:58 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle with an obstructed windshield. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 20 year old female operator from Montclair for possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
           
           On December 8, 2017 at 8:25 p.m., Ptl. Anthony Cardona and Ptl. Joseph Johnson responded to a Rockledge Place address to investigate a suspicious male on the property. The homeowner, who was away from the residence, contacted the police after being alerted by his cell phone of motion detected on his home security camera system. The officers located the subject in the rear yard of the residence and apprehended him after a brief foot chase. He was in possession of numerous tools commonly used to commit a burglary. The subject, later identified as Kevin M. McNamara, a 65 year old male from West Orange, was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court. He was charged with possession of burglary tools and obstruction of the administration of law.
 
            On December 9, 2017 at 12:49 a.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas stopped a vehicle being operated with a cracked windshield. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 24 year old male driver from West Orange for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On December 9, 2017 at 1:10 a.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a vehicle for speeding on Pompton Avenue. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 23 year old female driver from Montclair for possession of marijuana. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

            On December 12, 2017 at 10:56 p.m., Ptl. Justin Westra stopped a vehicle for obstructing the flow of traffic. It was determined that the 24 year old female operator from West Orange had a suspended license. She was arrested processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
On December 14, 2017 at 12:19 a.m., Ptl. Anthony Cardona stopped a vehicle for an inoperable brake lamp. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 25 year old male operator from East Orange for possession of marijuana. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
On December 14, 2017 at 11:49 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas stopped a vehicle for an inoperable brake lamp. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 21 year old male operator from East Orange for possession of marijuana. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On December 15, 2017 at 2:20 a.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas stopped a vehicle for speeding on Pompton Avenue. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 25 year old female operator from Essex Fells for driving while intoxicated. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On December 17, 2017 at 11:02 p.m., Ptl. Dominick Buscio stopped a vehicle after a random license plate check on his MDT revealed that the operator had an outstanding warrant. The operator, a 29 year old male from Bloomfield, was placed under arrest. He was processed and released after posting the required bail.
 

On December 17, 2017 at 11:39 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle for obstructing the flow of traffic. It was then determined that the operator, a 40 year old male from East Orange, had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested, processed and released after posting the required bail.

            On December 28, 2017 at 12:01 a.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas stopped a vehicle for an inoperable headlamp and dark tinted windows. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 31 year old female operator from Elizabeth for driving while suspended. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On December 28, 2017, Ptl. Jason Rivers investigated a burglary to a vehicle in the driveway of a Young Avenue residence. Home surveillance video captured the actor at 2:16 a.m., wearing a dark hoodie concealing his face. Residents are again reminded to remove valuables and lock their vehicles.
 
            On December 29, 2017 at 1:53 a.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas stopped a vehicle displaying dark tinted windows. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 24 year old male driver from Newark for possession of marijuana. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On December 29, 2017 at 8:29 p.m., Ptl. Justin Westra stopped a vehicle for speeding on Pompton Avenue. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 28 year old female operator from Fairlawn for driving with a suspended license. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On December 30, 2017 at 2:12 a.m., officers responded to the Grasshopper bar/restaurant at 292 Grove Avenue for a large fight. Arriving officers observed two males fighting in the parking lot surrounded by a large crowd. The involved parties, a 21 year old male from Lodi and a 25 year old male from Lyndhurst, were both arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. They were processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

            On December 30, 2017 at 6:23 p.m., Ptl. Dominick Buscio stopped a vehicle displaying dark tinted windows and an inoperable brake lamp. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 28 year old male driver from Weehawken for possession of marijuana.

            On December 18, 2017 at 2:24 a.m., Ptl. Justin Westra stopped a vehicle for an inoperable brake lamp. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of a 25 year old female passenger from West Orange for possession of marijuana. She was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
 
            On December 19, 2017 at 11:21 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a vehicle with inoperable brake lamps. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 18 year old male driver from Montclair for possession of marijuana. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
           
             On December 21, 2017 at 1:05 p.m., Ptl. Dominick Buscio stopped a vehicle after observing that the occupants were not wearing seatbelts. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of both of the vehicle occupants for possession of marijuana and possession of stolen property. A 46 year old male from Orange and a 55 year old male from Beaver Falls, PA were processed and transported to the Essex County Jail.
 
             On December 23, 2017 at 2:24 a.m., Ptl. Anthony Cardona stopped a vehicle after observing it weaving and failing to maintain a lane. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 47 year old male driver from Spring Lake for driving while intoxicated. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
